Safe At Site’s ProGuard ZoneStop crash cushion is now patented. An important milestone for a solution that provides an extra margin of safety when every metre counts.
When a vehicle hits a crash cushion, the impact energy needs to be absorbed in a controlled way. ProGuard ZoneStop uses a cushioning mechanism in which a front weight moves over a stable base, absorbing energy progressively. The design aims to reduce the consequences of an impact for both drivers and road workers.
In an impact test at 70 km/h, the stopping distance was 19.2 metres, compared with the maximum permitted distance of 35 metres. This provides a valuable safety margin between the vehicle and the work area—and the people working there.
The granted patent marks an important milestone in our development work. For us, safety and practicality go hand in hand. That is why ZoneStop is also easy to lift, stack and transport. After an impact, damaged parts can be replaced and the crash cushion restored for continued use.
We continue to develop solutions with one clear purpose: everyone should be able to get home after work. Everyone, everyday.
