ProGuard ZoneStop®

Half the stopping distance, double the margin of safety

ProGuard ZoneStop is a patent-pending traffic buffer that meets and exceeds the toughest requirements for roadworks safety. With a tested stopping distance of only 19.2 metres at 70 km/h, compared with the requirement of max. 35 metres, it offers protection that truly makes a difference. It is also easy to handle; stackable, durable and built for a long service life—a buffer that combines innovation, function and sustainability.

Innovation that protects lives — every metre counts

ZoneStop is designed for real-world site safety. It uses a completely new buffer principle with efficient, progressive energy absorption where a front weight moves in a controlled way over a stable base. This captures the force of an impact without compromising the safety of either driver or road worker.

The buffer is patent-pending and has passed both approved simulation to 2000/70 and testing at the Transpolis test centre in Lyon to VVMB 351. This makes ZoneStop a dependable choice for projects where safety cannot be left to chance

Tested for safety’s sake

With a verified stopping distance of just 19.2 metres, ZoneStop exceeds requirements with a comfortable margin. Approved tests to the 2000/70 standard demonstrate the buffer’s ability to absorb energy in a controlled, damage-limiting manner. Its unique three-stage function means the risk of serious personal injury and equipment damage is minimised—even at higher impact speeds. A test report from a trial to VVMB 351 confirms the buffer’s superior performance.

In a test at 50 km/h, the stopping distance is only 10.6 metres. In practice, this means ZoneStop is highly suitable in urban environments where space is limited to create sufficient safety around the work area..

Built for efficient everyday work — clever in every detail

The ProGuard ZoneStop traffic buffer is designed to be as easy to handle as it is safe in operation. One person can raise and lower the integrated sign mast, saving both time and labour. The mast locks into a rigid position with a hand-wheel and folds down so the units can be neatly stacked for transport or storage.

Thanks to the integrated lifting yoke, positioned over the centre of gravity, the buffer can be handled with forks, a chain or a grapple. It can also be lifted under its concrete weights—flexibility that simplifies both logistics and installation. The combination of stackability, compact format and multiple lifting options makes ZoneStop a tool that works in practice—not just on the drawing board.

Designed to fail safely—and be used again

Thanks to its modular, refurbishable construction, ZoneStop is easy to restore after an impact. Wear parts can be replaced—rather than the entire unit—delivering both longer service life and lower total cost.

All components are carefully designed for longevity and, when they have reached end-of-life, can be dismantled and recycled separately. ProGuard ZoneStop is therefore a smarter environmental choice, especially in larger projects where multiple buffers are used over long periods.

In other words—ZoneStop is not just a traffic buffer. It is an investment in safety, cost-efficiency and the future requirements of sustainable temporary traffic safety
