City barrier EN1317-2

New simulations for the City Barrier for urban environment – strong performance at lower speeds

Safe At Site has carried out new simulations of the ProGuard City barrier at lower speeds, focusing on urban environments where both working width and manageability are crucial. The tests have been carried out under the same conditions as capacity class T2, which is the class often used as a benchmark for temporary barriers according to EN 1317-2.

The results show that the City Barrier delivers very good performance even when the speed is reduced to 50 and 30 km/h. At 50 km/h, a working width of 0.77 meters is achieved, and at 30 km/h only 0.50 meters – both with damage risk class A, the highest safety level according to the standard. This means that the City Barrier provides stable protection with minimal intrusion into the working area, which is particularly valuable in congested urban environments.

The simulations follow Safe At Sites’ established development model, where advanced digital analysis is always verified through real-world testing. The documentation shows that all previous full-scale tests have confirmed the accuracy of the simulations, providing a high degree of predictability even in more complex urban traffic environments.

– We are very pleased. With these results, the City Barrier strengthens its position as a cost-effective and technically competitive option for contractors working in urban areas. The combination of high safety level, low working width and an attractive price/performance ratio makes it a smart choice when every meter – and every decision – counts.
