Safe At Site is now launching ZoneStop®, a new type of mobile crash cushion developed in close dialogue with industry representatives. ProGuard® ZoneStop® has been tested and approved at the independent test facility Transpolis in France. The test was carried out in accordance with the Swedish Transport Administration’s method description VVMB 351 2000/70, confirming that ZoneStop® meets the requirements for use in Swedish traffic environments. We have now applied for final approval from the Swedish Transport Administration for use on its roads.
The results show that ZoneStop® stops a 2-tonne car in less than 18 metres at 70 km/h, with a total stopping distance including the buffer of 19.2 metres – significantly shorter than traditional crash cushions. This represents a clear improvement in safety for both road workers and motorists. A further test at 50 km/h showed a total stopping distance of only 10.6 metres, making the solution highly suitable for urban environments where long buffer zones cannot be achieved.
“We wanted to develop protection that really makes a difference where the margins are tight. The fact that ZoneStop® is now approved in accordance with VVMB 351 2000/70 is proof that we have succeeded,” says Bert-Ola Grelsson, Head of Product Development at Safe At Site. “In addition, we have created a product that is extremely easy to use in terms of loading and transport, unloading, relocation and storage.”
ZoneStop® is the latest addition to the ProGuard® series – Safe At Site’s system for traffic-safe environments and closures. The mobile crash cushion combines high safety standards with smart practical features:
- Stackable design – efficient transport and storage
- Integrated sign mast – easy raising and lowering of sign and light
- Lifting yoke – safe and smooth handling on site
- Replaceable parts – long service life and low operating cost
- Side-mounted battery box – for warning lights in line with Swedish requirements
With ZoneStop®, Safe At Site is taking another step towards enabling safer and more efficient worksites in traffic-heavy environments.
